Tom Petty: A Celebration
The Refugees pay tribute to Tom Petty on October 12 at Lindberg’s Tavern.
It’s been a tough week for rock music lovers everywhere with the passing of Tom Petty. Known for hits like “Free Fallin’,” “I Won’t Back Down” and “American Girl,” he was an iconic singer, songwriter, performer and record producer. Since his passing, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ Greatest Hits album has returned to the Billboard 200 chart at No. 2.
This Thursday, Dallas Jones and other local musicians honor Petty with a tribute concert at Lindberg’s Tavern. The Refugees and a variety of special guests cover classic hits, acoustic sides and B-sides. All proceeds from the $10 cover go to local non-profit Care To Learn, which provides immediate funding to meet needs in the areas of health, hunger and hygiene so every student can be successful in school.
This tribute gives Petty fans a chance to come together and remember the life and success of a rock icon and the impact he had on the music industry. So sit back, relax and relish in the words of Tom Petty, “Buy me a drink, sing me a song. Take me as I come ‘cause I can’t stay long.”
