The Montclair Retirement Community and Oxford HealthCare will host a free educational program for the public. Expert Carolyn Beard will be explaining how a cardiac rehabilitation team develops an individualized plan to improve a person’s cardiac health. She will discuss how diagnosis, rehabilitation, prevention and education all work together to return patients to their regular activities. During rehab patients learn about medications, risk factors, the anatomy and physiology of the heart, cholesterol, stress management and nutrition from nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, exercise specialists, psychologists and respiratory therapists. Carolyn Beard, RN, BSN is the Supervisor of the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation department at CoxHealth Wheeler Heart and Vascular Center in Springfield.
