Jeanna Callahan, 25

Founder/president, Killuminati Foundation; Recruiting manager, Wyndham Resorts Branson

Callahan started Killuminati as a vet-bill-aid non-profit, but it has evolved into a rescue organization over the last year. Its major fundraiser is Project Puppy. Coming up: Speed-dating with your dog. Events like these are part of Callahan’s marketing plan, which focuses on differentiation in a competitive non-profit landscape. For her day job, she is chief recruiter for Wyndham Branson, which she calls a “diamond in the rough” of the Branson market, employing up to 150 sales staff at a time and generating $150 million in revenue last year.—M.L.

Q&A: Get to know Jeanna Callahan

How do you get your news?
“I listen to the radio in the mornings, and watch SportsCenter getting ready, and then get the News-Leader, read 417mag.com, and read my weekly SBJ.”

What’s one website you check daily?
“thekilluminatifoundation.org”

What did you want to be when you grew up when you were 5?
“I wanted to be the first woman president until I was about 16. I was campaigning as a toddler.”

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
“Hopefully healthy and happy, and continuing the foundation.”

If you had to choose any other profession, what would ou choose?
“Probably community relations, something with the NFL. Or, I’d do my foundation and not have money be an issue.”

How do you define success?
“I think it’s daily. It’s setting goals and achieving them, but you know; it’s a daily affirmation that you really have to adjust to new challenges and continue the pursuit. That mental toughness of getting back up once you fall down.”

Fill in the blank. A perfect day at work is… ?
“Changing and saving lives.”

Three words that describe your job are… ?
Rewarding, challenging, ever-changing

What’s the biggest workplace prank you’ve ever taken part in?
“We actually hired a guy that looked identical to one of our directors, and had him come in and walk around and talk. It was pretty funny because if you’ve seen our director he’s one of a kind. He hikes his pants up and wears boots and gold. It was hysterical. It took him all day to figure out it was a joke.”

What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do for your career?
“I think just being persistent.”

Where’s your ideal vacation?
“Touring Italy, seeing some of the places that my family is from, experience the culture from a local standpoint as opposed to a tourist standpoint.”
