Jared Cluck

29, Colorist/ Stylist at Honey + Hive Salon

How long does it take you to get ready to go out or go to work?

Honestly? Five minutes. Ask anyone.

What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever worn?

A braided native American leather forehead band... all day.

What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a must-have piece of clothing?

This awesome Italian cashmere sweater from Baldwin cost more than anything in my closet. I won’t say how much, but it was worth it.

What three words define your personal style?

Simple, strong, confident

What’s your signature piece?

Boots. Could be a Chelsea boot or a work boot, but I usually wear them with everything.

Who are your fashion role models?

Although they are both models for brands and not affiliated with a certain brand, Billy Huxley and Phil Sullivan are both fashion role models for me. I think it could be the confidence they present when wearing just about anything that speaks to me.

Where do you find fashion inspiration?

Mostly from Los Angeles style and Brooklyn Style

If you could wear one brand or designer for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Baldwin. ‘Nuff said.

Finish this sentence: “I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing...”

Anything from The Buckle.

What are your favorite places to shop that are in 417-land?

Modern Society Mens for clothes and Just For Him for a great hat.

What are your favorite places to shop that are not in 417-land?

Baldwin in Kansas City. All Saints in Chicago. Top Man in New York. Vintage shops in Los Angeles.

What’s the best bargain you’ve ever found?

Three vintage tees in LA for $15. Can’t beat it.

What do you think is the worst fashion faux pas?

I embrace fashion for what it is. Something fun to express yourself in the moment. Trends come and go, classics are forever, but why have not a little fun along the way?

Do you shop at thrift stores?

Unfortunately not in Springfield, but I always love a good vintage find.

What’s your favorite outfit or article of clothing you’ve ever worn?

Too hard to narrow, sorry.

What is your favorite fashion trend right now?

I’m enjoying the mix of textiles on muted colors.

What fashion trend do you wish would go away?

Studded Jeans.
