Big, Times Two
A second Big Whiskey’s opens this month. Prepare yourself for a similar atmosphere, just as many televisions, all your favorite menu items and nearly twice as much seating, all on the south side of Springfield.
Imagine the distinct flavor of a chicken wing blended with gooey cheese, all plopped on a warm, crispy tortilla chip. Delicious, right? It’s Big Whiskey’s buffalo chicken dip, and it’s one of approximately 107 reasons to love the place.
That love will be taken to an entirely new level early this month, which is when a second location of this downtown Springfield restaurant opens on the south side of town. The new Big Whiskey’s is located in the former Indigo Joe’s location on West Republic Road.
Paul Sundy, who is co-owner of both of Springfield’s Big Whiskey’s restaurants, a Big Whiskey’s restaurant in Little Rock, Arkansas, and several other local eateries, says the south side’s Big Whiskey’s menu will be same as the downtown location. “We do new menus every six

months,” Sundy says. “This will open in August, which is when we will be unveiling our new menu at both locations.” The menu will be slightly tweaked, including a few more original appetizers and entrées.
Although the menus are the same, Sundy predicts that the new Big Whiskey’s location may have a slightly different appeal to customers. “As a whole, obviously, the downtown location is geared a little more towards the downtown product,” Sundy says. “The south side will be more like our Little Rock location, and a little more geared towards the restaurant side.”
Just like the downtown spot, the new location will have 25 to 30 televisions. But the new restaurant can hold a lot more people. “Seating-wise, we will go up to almost double in size,” Sundy says. There is a patio at the new location, and a private dining room. The décor includes new seating designs and a new front of house. “I would say it’s going to be an updated version of what our Big Whiskey’s brand has turned into,” Sundy says.
