For the second year, 417-land stores are giving away a new kitchen to raise money for The Kitchen, a Springfield-based organization that provides housing and more to those in need. What does it take to win? Well, to be entered in the drawing, you’ll need to purchase a $10 ticket at Metro Builders Supply, Seminole Décor Center, The Carpet Shoppe or CBS Cabinets. But to actually win… well… a little good faith can’t hurt.

Judy Bilyeu of Metro Builders Supply says that last year’s winners had already begun to remodel their kitchen when they entered the contest. They’d even torn down their cabinets and were planning to paint them. But certain they’d win, they held off on their projects for four months until the drawing. Then they won! Now they have a brand-new, completely updated space. The total package for this year’s winner is a $10,000 value. (If you do the math, you’ll see that’ll buy you quite a bit more than just a new stove.)

Bilyeu says that all the money collected from entry ticket sales goes directly to The Kitchen, to be used as the organization sees fit. Last year, the goal was to raise $10,000, but in the end they were able to make a $10,500 contribution. This year, Bilyeu says the ante has been upped, and the goal is to raise $15,000 by the time the winner’s name is drawn on Sunday, February 3, 2008.
