5 Best Christmas Light Road Trips

‘Tis the season of colors that won’t quit. This year, check out the holiday twinkle of the best light displays in 417-land.

1.  Silver Dollar City

2. Carthage Christmas Lighting Tour

Dates: Various dates through December

Why We Love It:  Load up the car and head out on a self-led mini road trip. If you’re starting from the north, check out the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church (15506 Nutmeg Rd, Carthage) light display to see more than 50,000 lights. Then head to the Jasper County courthouse to see lights draped around the historic square. 

 

3. Sarcoxie Musical Christmas Light Show

Cost: Free

Dates: December 5–31, 6–10 p.m. 

Why We Love It:  Sarcoxie is the oldest town in Jasper County. When it comes to Christmas time festivities, historic towns have a little extra charm. Park your car, crack your window and enjoy more than 40,000 lights and music on the historic downtown square.

 

4. Branson Limousine Christmas Lights Tour

Cost: $150–315 for up to 14 guests

Dates: Through December 30

5. Trail of Lights

Why We Love It:  Visit Shepherd of the Hills for its annual Trail of Lights animated Christmas light display. The two-and-a-half-mile drive-through display features millions of lights that make you feel like you’re in a winter wonderland.
