Citizens Memorial Hospital Eye Specialty Center is proud to introduce ophthalmologist Chetan Soni, M.D., M.S., MHA. Dr. Soni joined CMH in July 2012. He is a graduate of the Medical College of Baroda, India. He completed two years of residency in neurology before completing a residency in ophthalmology at Mason Eye Institute with the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he was chief resident of the department of ophthalmology.
Having a doctor with his level of expertise gives CMH Eye Specialty Center the ability to comprehensively handle all medical aspects of eye care from general exams to specialty care for cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetes. He routinely performs a variety of surgical procedures including advanced cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, laser surgery and eyelid surgery.
In 2010, he was one of 10 individuals worldwide who was awarded the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Ophthalmic Research Grant. He has invented an intra-vitreal injection device system, which helps with the management of macular degeneration patients, and is actively involved in design of surgical instruments. He has published in several peer-reviewed journals and given presentations at national and international meetings. On a day-to-day basis, it isn’t about grants and inventions with Dr. Soni. He treats patients just as if they are family.
