Top 3 Local Restaurants
1 Kai
We can think of three of our friends who’ve celebrated big birthday dinners at Kai in the months since it opened this summer. Your choice for the best new local restaurant has an avant-garde atmosphere mixing pulsing light, color and chic modern lines, with a hint of boudoir thrown in. The Lobster Monster roll, with its weird-green herbal sauce is delicious, as is the blueberry panna cotta. Also, did you know this place serves the best iced tea in town?
2 Clary’s
The new Clary’s, that is. Chef James Clary founded Clary’s American Grill in 1989, then sold to former manufacturer Dave Fender in August 2006. By June 2007, Fender’s iteration of Clary’s folded. Meanwhile, James Clary revamped his struggling Battlefield Marketplace casual seafood restaurant, Fish, as the new Clary’s. Since this summer, it’s bewitched many happy diners again.
3 Bailey’s
Equipped with a salad bar, Bailey’s aims to be a fun, lighthearted restaurant in the space formerly occupied by the much-missed Rasta Grill. So far, Bailey’s successes include a wonderful(ly large) outdoor patio with umbrella tables, as well as a delicious spinach-artichoke dip.
