Best Restaurant Server (Franchise Winner)
Josh Lumos, Red Robin
This guy has waited on us, and he is great. Gives the lie to the idea that chains only employ very bored college students.
Best Park
Sequiota Park
Sequiota Park is just east of the Galloway Greenway trail we mentioned above. It’s gently rumpled topography gives it some interest beyond your typical flat, bland city park. Best part is either the duck pond or the three caves on the grounds. Great for kids.
Runners-up: Nathanael Greene Park/Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden, Close Memorial Park, Phelps Grove Park

EDITORS’ PICK
Best Place to Take the Kids
Discovery Center
As far as 417 Magazine readers are concerned, the best place to take the kids is a place to learn about science and the world around them. That’s a good thing. But the best part? Discovery Center is there for you parents with Parents Night Out. In March, June and December of this year, parents can enjoy a soirée downtown from 5 to 10 p.m., and kids ages four to 12 can have fun at the Discovery Center. The next registration deadline is March 5; visit 417mag.com and search “Discovery Center” for details on Parents Night Out and how to contact the center.

For best manicure or pedicure, Art Nails is better than any place I have been in either Springfield or Kansas City. It may not have the la-de-da atmosphere, but they have the people who care about their work and clients. The pedicures last about 3 weeks, and the manicures are simply perfect. Vivian must have the eyesight of a hawk.
