The Shop: Inspirational Home, 3830 S. Lone Pine Ave., Springfield, 417-823-8493. Tues.–Sat., 10:30 a.m.–5 p.m.

Atmosphere: Brick pavers lead up to a little black-and-white awning that peeks over the black painted door at Inspirational Home. It’s almost Christmas as I report this, and a beautiful red and green wreath hangs on the door. I know that later today that wreath will be hanging in my home. It’s freezing outside, so when I walk in, it’s like I was just dipped into a warm cup of chai tea. The fire is burning, the candles are lit, music is playing. I’m home.

Key People: Debra Moore is lovely. A beautiful woman with bright blue eyes greets me with a smile. You can tell immediately that she is the owner and loves her shop. For the previous 10 years, Debra owned a decorating business called Inspirational Home and a floral design business called Woodland Gardens. Today, she offers decorating services as well as this shop filled with amazing goods. I guess you could say that the shop is a culmination of her

Seven Things We Love
at Inspirational Home:

• Purse-size pump bottle with lock, $1.50

• Local artist personalized framed initial  (custom), $210–235

• Gift tags, 25 cents

• Pure olive oil soaps, $3.25

• Silky soft cotton throw (It can be monogrammed.), $15.99

• Wood and chicken wire pie safe, $79.99

life’s work. But the shop is not all about her. Next to the door, she has an armoire filled with other people’s business cards for referrals, paint chips for consulting, books for reference and magazines for ideas. She draws creativity from within, but inspiration from those who surround her. I told you she was lovely.

What You’ll Find: Nothing you need, everything you want. Debra has designed a shop filled with products that warm your soul, which span from vintage to new. Wine glasses are filled with sweet gift cards, soaps fill an armoire, warm rugs pepper the floor. Custom usually comes with a hefty price, but the shop’s custom framing ($37–67) and monogramming ($11.50) are affordable ways to personalize your home. Many of the items that can’t speak for themselves have descriptions in beautiful font that tell why they are so special. Debra says that when you love a product, you want to make sure everyone knows why. I asked her what her favorite item in the shop was. She paused for a bit and then decided on her reproduced vintage swivel curtain rods. She sells them for $104 a pair, and I do have to say they are spectacular.

Verdict: I love this place, and it feels like I’ve been living here for years and have finally placed everything just so. When you come to the store, take a bit of time to explore and sit on the settee and pick up one of Debra’s magazines to thumb through. Inspiration is just around the corner.
