⬆Best Personal Shoppers
Harem & Company
Even seasoned shoppers have one item they never should have purchased hidden in the back of their closet. That’s where the shopping divas at Harem & Company (4339 S. National Ave., Springfield, 417-881-0602, haremboutique.com) come to the rescue. Once they’ve handed you a glass of wine, these ladies set to work selecting the perfect items of clothing, shoes and accessories to fit your personality and your style. Need a stylish work-appropriate ensemble? No worries. Looking for that show-stopping dress that really shows off your figure? These gals are here to help.
Best Knitter’s Haven
One City Market
Did you know there’s a top-notch full-service yarn store in Rogersville? We discovered One City Market (214 Beatie St., Rogersville, 417-753-7100) last year and have to say that it’s pretty awesome. For die-hard knitters, One City Market is one of the best spots in 417-land where you can stock up on vibrant skeins of yarn and settle in for an afternoon of knitting. This colorful and eclectic shop is tucked away in a refurbished home where rooms are packed from floor to ceiling with balls of yarn, knitting books, needles of all sizes, and usually a group of chatty knitters who sit gathered around with needles drawn.
Best Multi-Purpose Shop
Combine shopping with, well, social time at Social (4235 S. Charleston Ave., Springfield, 417-350-7886). This little boutique combines shopping with crafting. Come in on a whim to buy clothing, accessories, gifts and even some cute Mizzou products (SEC game night shopping, anyone?). Or book the back room to have a crafting party with your pals. The shop is stocked with plenty of crafting supplies and has a Pinterest page with specific crafting inspiration. You can bring in outside food, and the Social staff will be on hand to help with the creative part of the party. It’s the perfect place to take all your Pinterest dreams and make them a reality (instead of wallowing in Pinterest guilt like the rest of us).
Best Place to Indulge in Things You Didn’t Know You Needed
We didn’t know we needed a Vitamix blender until we ogled a shiny red one that came from Everything Kitchens (2750 S. Glenstone Ave., Springfield, everythingkitchens.com). We didn’t know how oh-so-badly we needed some super-sharp Wüsthof knives until we saw a block of them there. And we had absolutely no idea that we maybe need to buy an entirely new set of glassware because… well… it’s just really hard to resist the bounty at this store. It’s okay, though, because you can find goodies for just about every budget and price point here, making it a-okay to indulge every now and then.
Best Pre-Lake Detour
Vino Cellars at the Lake featuring Gourmet Grocer and Mary Jane’s
We love Vino Cellars at the Lake for a lot of reasons, but we especially adore it as a place to stop for top-notch gustatory provisions on the way down to Table Rock Lake for a weekend of leisure. Mega bonus: You can take a break from your drive and stop for a bite on the spot’s enormous patio overlooking the lake.
Best Shop-From-Home Service
Local Boutiques’ Facebook pages
We love that local boutiques are showing off their new stock on their Facebook pages, and you can call dibs on your favorite items without even changing out of your jammies. At some local shops, the pics are posted so you can browse what’s available, and at others you can also comment on the photo saying what size you want, and they’ll hold it for you. It’s a pretty sweet set-up considering some shops carry limited quantities of clothing. Many boutiques offer some form of Facebook shopping, and here are a few: Torn Boutique, Hip Chick, Modern Society, The Uptown Boutique, STAXX, Social and Baglady Boutique.
