Hispanic and Sports Marketing Manager, O’Reilly Auto Parts

If stories about marketing executives sold movie tickets, Disney would’ve knocked on Hugo Sanchez’s door years ago. Today one of O’Reilly’s top marketing managers, Hugo began his career at the company’s Houston, Texas distribution warehouse. The then-San Jacinto College psychology student saw it as simply a job, though one he liked. Once he graduated, O’Reilly’s came knocking with an offer to work in marketing, with an emphasis on the company’s growing Hispanic customer base. 22-year-old Hugo accepted, and moved to Springfield a year and a half later.
Hugo credits O’Reilly’s culture, one that promotes cooperation and creativity, with helping him succeed. His sports marketing duties mainly center around college basketball—it was his plan to add O’Reilly’s kick plates to the bottoms of sideline chairs—while his Hispanic efforts focus on grass roots initiatives, such as sponsoring Cinco de Mayo parties and local soccer clubs. Hugo also plays guitar, drums and keyboard, and is a star left fielder for his softball team (he’s a huge baseball and football fan).
Still one of O’Reilly’s youngest marketing minds, Hugo hopes to grow with the company and keep using his psychology degree to get inside the heads of customers.
