General Manager/Co-owner, ICON Nightclub and Big Whiskey’s
Born: January 25, 1983
Growing up with parents in the restaurant industry, Randy Gildehaus knew he wanted to someday have a place of his own. He knew exactly what it would take to run a successful restaurant. He got his chance with downtown favorite Big Whiskey’s. And as it turns out, he knows how to run a best-in-its-region nightclub, as well.
As operator of ICON Nightclub, Randy oversees day-to-day operations at a club that has pumped more than 1 million customers through its doors. It’s not an easy gig: alcohol, hormones and strict rules make for a constant juggling act and require an attention to detail. On the Big Whiskey’s side (literally—the businesses are connected), Randy is excited by the possibilities, and hopes to help it take the next step. “I love my job and really believe in the concepts and products. It’s important to have the right employees beside you.”
Randy’s goals for Big Whiskey’s aren’t modest: five new locations in the next five years, 20 in 10 years. 20 years from now? Retirement (when he’ll probably hang lake with his wife-to-be, Alexis, and his dog, Mocha). For now, Randy spends his days and nights at his businesses, as well as networking with Rotaract, serving as chairman for the annual Bartenders Charity Ball, and as an Associate Member at Highland Springs Country Club.
