The Outdoors Champion

Matt O’Reilly, 26

Owner, Dynamic Earth and Green Circle Projects Development

You know Matt O’Reilly. If you don’t, you’re going to before long, because this ambitious businessman is leading Springfield’s health and Earth-saving revolution. The owner of Dynamic Earth Equipment, an outdoor gear shop on South Fremont, O’Reilly has branched out in the past year. His latest endeavor, Green Circle Projects Development, is currently building the most advanced “green” structure in the Ozarks. When it’s done, Matt expects the retail and dining complex to meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s “Platinum” status for eco-friendly design (See GO’s April 11 “Going Green” issue for more.) But Matt’s not just into saving the planet, he wants to save you, too (not in the Jerry Falwell way, though.) You see, Matt hates television “It’s the most widely distributed and consumed drug in the world,” he claims. One of his missions for Dynamic Earth is to expose people to rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, adventure races…anything that gets them outdoors. He spends most of his weekends in far-flung places doing daring deeds, often as part of the Ozark Mountain Paddlers or Ozarks Greenways.
