This Is Just the Prelude

Cassil’s Coffee Café (2925

will display more of Edward Biamonte photography in the exhibit  “Prelude to Alaska: Series One, First
Encounter” photography beginning in February.
So, it was Edward’s “milestone birthday.” (Char won’t say which one, only that “he feels not a year over 39.”) And there was a case of cruise envy involved. In 2002, a girlfriend of  Char’s persuaded her to go on a 7-day cruise to Alaska. And (Char’s words)… Edward was “heartbroken.” “He was like, ‘I want to go to Alaska,’” she recalls.

Fast-forward a few years. It had been a long, busy year—with some sad notes, including the death of Edward’s mother. When Edward’s birthday came around, it was time for some cheer. “I put together a dinner for him and his friends over at Avanzare,” says Char. “He knew about the dinner, but he didn’t know about the cruise… our girls came by and presented the gift.”

Awww. The result was a trip where the Biamontes took a break from work, kids and stress, “just talked about life”and generally enjoyed each other. And Edward collected many images and impressions of the north: some wild, some quirky, all an adventure. —G.H.
