Matt and Kerri Miller Home Gallery: January 2009

Ethnic, casual, funky, spiritual. Those are the words Kerri Miller uses to describe her approach to life and to decorating. The nurse practitioner and her husband, local real estate developer Matt Miller, are avid world travelers who built their dream home on a wooded lot in Timberbrook seven years ago. It’s a place that the couple, along with their three children, two dogs, two cats and never-ending flow of guests, can easily call home in between adventures.

The couple’s style is deeply influenced by their passion for other cultures, and the items in their home represent the people and places they have seen. “I don’t like tchotchkes,” Kerri declares. “The things we have all have special meaning.” Matt and Kerri collected antique architectural pieces and decorative accents for three years before they started construction, with the help of Groover Designs. The hodgepodge of artifacts—antique doors, reclaimed wood, pieces of glass and long-forgotten light fixtures—came together like a découpage art project, and they emanate a relaxed, lived-in elegance.
