Movin' Right Along
Long hours from all involved bring the 417 Idea Home close to completion.
It takes a lot of hard work and brainpower to build any home. But when the home is a 10,000-square-foot dream house, it takes even more. From the home designer to the owners—with many developers, builders, suppliers and designers in between—there isn’t a day the 417 Idea Home’s Branson Hills lot isn’t buzzing (at least not yet). But thanks to the long, hard hours of everyone involved, the home is steadily progressing. Owners Marc and Patricia Williams are scheduled to be in their new dwelling by summer’s end.
It was a little more than a year and a half ago when the 417 Idea Home went from being a spec dream house to a custom-home for the Williams family. Since then, all those schematic designs you saw transpired from renderings to reality. Now, 18 months and countless building decisions later, we have a nearly complete Mediterranean-style dream home. We’re glad to say we’re done with the bulk of the dirty work. In order to update you on our progress, we asked builder Doug Pitts (just before press time) to give a speculation of where the home would be in July. Assuming all things stayed on schedule, the following describes the house’s current condition.
The majority of the home’s interior is complete. Faux finishers are putting the final touches on various custom murals and the Venetian plaster walls. All of the flooring is down, and the trim carpenters are installing the base trim. The granite countertops are all in place, and the plumber is installing the home’s many sinks, faucets and fixtures. All interior designers and decorators are installing the home’s many drapes and arranging furniture pieces in their designated rooms. All major appliances have been installed in the sports bar, the main kitchen and the prep kitchen. The light fixtures are in place, and the security system and audiovisual components are in full swing.
You’ll find similar ends in sight when looking at the home’s exterior. The landscaper is currently planting shrubs and laying sod, and the water feature in the front yard is in its final stages of completion. The Grecian-style pool’s deck has its stamped overlay, and the pool fence and rail are nearly complete as well. The outdoor kitchen has all appliances installed.
Sounds like a lot of work, right? It was. When combining the home’s large space with a very detailed design, that’s exactly what you get. “The building process is going very well in comparison to the amount of detail of the home and the amount of people involved,” Pitts says. “We’ve had a few hiccups on the way, but overall it has gone pretty smooth.”
