The contemporary home of John and Rosemary Jackson is the only structure of its kind in their neighborhood nestled next to the James River.	Cozy furniture and skylights meet a cantilevered landing and sky-high ceilings in the Jackson home.
The landing at the top of the staircase curves around half of the house with views out over Riverbend Estates and even down onto the entry, kitchen, and living room.	Another view of the landing with skylights and open windows.
The centerpiece of John Jackson's metal work in the home is the banister on the curving staircase. Its tall, freestanding metal poles topped with wooden balls lead to the second floor and an eight-foot round skylight on a 34-foot domed ceiling.	The oh-so-tall kitchen cabinets were custom made and stained with a cherry finish to match the hardwood floors in the adjoining family room.
Modern design and things of the past mix in a room with colorful walls, old books and family photos.	The Jackson's bright red bathroom holds decorative treasures that the family has collected from trips abroad.
