417 Idea Home: Take Two

417 Idea Home: Take Two

It was nine months ago when more than 2,000 people toured the first-ever 417 Idea Home. This project was the first of its kind for 417 Magazine, and all in all, it was a success. When all was said and done, we were able to donate $12,000 to two local charities, and we introduced our readers to some top-notch creations from the best and brightest suppliers, designers, architects and builders in 417-land.
Now, not even an entire year later, we’re working on the second 417 Idea Home. (Pretty quick, eh?) But don’t assume this one will have even more imported cantera stone columns—things are a little different this time around.

About the House

The last idea home was worth approximately $3.6 million (gasp!). But that home was also created at a different time: a time when there was such a thing as a housing market, our money flowed a lot more freely and most of us had many more dollars in our bank accounts. In order to make the second 417 Idea Home appropriate for today’s economic conditions, we are working toward a different goal on round two. “Our approach is affordable and innovative,” says 417 Idea Home project manager Kaye Lee.

This certainly doesn’t mean we are sacrificing luxury, though. Interior Designers Wendie Lemay and Jacqueline Pitts of Brashear’s Furniture (2750 Shepherd of the Hills Expy., Branson, 417-337-5028, brashears.com) are the two interior designers leading the project. They’re working to include items that are stylish, innovative and much more affordable than they appear. “The concept of the house is to have it look like a million dollar home, but it won’t cost that,” Jacqueline Pitts says.

The Look

The two describe the home’s style as similar to a French chateau, as it has a formal look. The exterior consists mainly of light gray stone,
accented with brick. There are wood columns on the backside of the house, which add a rustic touch to the elegance. A covered veranda wraps itself around one corner of the house, giving residents gorgeous views of the golf course.

About the Community

This year’s 417 Idea Home is located in Branson Creek. As one of the largest master-planned communities in the Midwest, it sits on more than 6,000 acres. The 417 Idea Home is located in the Ironridge community, which is the gated community along Branson Creek Golf Club. The homes in this area start at $650,000-plus, and there will be approximately 40 homes when all the lots are sold.
