See a tennis superstar this month when the Springfield Lasers go up against the St. Louis Aces.
There are two kinds of Anna Kournikova fans: The ones who know her as the cute blonde in this summer’s nationwide K-Swiss ad campaign, and the ones who know her as a Russian tennis superstar with mad skills on the court. Kournikova is semi-retired, and while modeling and ads have given her household-name star power and made her face recognizable, it was her skills on the tennis court that initially won her fame, and they’re the reason she’s coming to Springfield this month.For one night only, you can see Anna Kournikova in town at the Friday, July 10 match between the Springfield Lasers and the St. Louis Aces.
Kournikova is playing as a member of the Aces, which means she’ll actually be up against the Lasers in competition. But whether you chose to root for Kournikova or stay loyal to your hometown team, you’ll be able to stick around and meet the tennis star. She’ll be signing autographs for 15 minutes when the match ends. According to Tom Adams, general manager of the Springfield Lasers, Kournikova might be available for some other activities, but it was still up in the air at press time.
