10 Most-Beautiful Finalist: Angye Sawyer

10 Most-Beautiful Finalist: Angye Sawyer
Photo Edward
Age: 32

Occupation: Owner of Downtown Tans & Oxygen Bar and Commercial Lines Producer for Regions Insurance

Background: Angye lives in Springfield, which is also her hometown. She has a 14-year-old daughter named Emalye Hornbuckle.

Tell us why you love 417-land.
I love Springfield because it’s a small city with a big city appeal. Springfield has great locally owned restaurants and boutiques to indulge in, but the main reason I love Springfield is because of the fantastic people.

Tell us about your community involvement and volunteering. (Please tell us what organizations you’re involved in, what you do to participate and how long you’ve been doing it.)
I’m not involved in the community as much as I would like to be. I have however, given to many charitable causes. Last year, I donated to organizations such as: Sertoma Club, American Cancer Society, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Price Cutter charity golf tournament, The Drury Fund, Evangel Concert Choir, Drury University Sports, Special Olympics and MSU SATA

What makes your community involvement worthwhile?
I feel that it is important to give back to the community where you live and work. It’s worthwhile because giving time or money could help increase someone’s quality of life.

Hobbies (Go ahead; list them all! And tell us why you love them.)
I love to travel but love coming home to Springfield! Hanging out at the Lake, sitting on a boat basking in the sun and watching the sunset on Table Rock Lake. Working out relieves stress and rejuvenates me. Ginny’s cross-training class at the Downtown YMCA kicks butt! Spending time with my friends and family. Nothing beats sitting on deck/patio on a warm day with your favorite people.

Are you involved in any professional organizations? (What are they, what’s your role, and how long have you been doing it?)
I’m a member of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

What’s something that might surprise us about you? (Or a story you love to tell.)
People are surprised when I first meet them, and they learn that I have a 14-year-old daughter. She is my best friend and motivation to succeed in life. We have both learned so much from each other because we have literally had to grow up together.
