Age: 53
Occupation:Medical sales, Boston Scientific
Signature piece: Robert Graham shirts (because this line of clothing is different from others, often a little crazy and unpredictable).

417 Magazine: If you could only wear one brand/designer for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Tom Guy: Lululemon Athletica active wear, it’s the most comfortable clothing ever. I love it!

417: What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever worn?
T.G.: A tuxedo I didn’t try on before an event. The shirt was XXXL and I looked like a clown in it. It made for lively conversation that night. We still laugh about it.

417: What’s the best bargain you’ve ever found?
T.G.:Ferragamo shoes that retailed for more than $500 for $50 and looked brand new, from Well Suited, a thrift store in Scottsdale, Arizona.

417: What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a must-have piece of clothing?
T.G.: The most I have spent on a piece of clothing was a really nice suit. It was from Binghams Traditional Clothing in Columbia, and I’m trying to erase from my memory the cost!

417: What three words define your style?
T.G.: Confident, fun, comfortable.

417: What do you think is the worst fashion faux pas?
T.G.: Polyester, or other synthetic fabrics.

417: Where do you find fashion inspiration?
T.G.: My wife, actually. She looks so amazing every day she inspires me to try to look decent. Also, my former boss at Mister Guy Clothing in Columbia during college, Rick Halterman. He was an amazing inspiration, and had a cool wardrobe.

417: Who are your fashion role models?
T.G.: Again, my wife. Nobody is more inspiring than her. She’s a fashionista!

417: Finish this sentence: “I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing…”
T.G.: Something that was derogatory or made anyone uncomfortable.

417: What fashion trend do you wish would go away?
T.G.: Nothing, really. Everything has its place, and bad fashion often inspires good ideas.

417: What’s your favorite outfit/article of clothing you’ve ever worn?
T.G.: A quality pair of nice-fitting denim. Nothing better.

417: What are your favorite places to shop that are in 417-land?
T.G.: Town & County, Blackwells.

417: What are your favorite places to shop that are not in 417-land?
T.G.: Binghams Traditional Clothing in Columbia and multiple small haberdasheries. No big box stores.

417: Do you shop at thrift stores? If so, what do you look for?
T.G.: Yes, all the time. I look for unique items.

417: How long does it take you to get ready to go out/go to work?
T.G.: It depends. Not long. I work in scrubs often but if I get dressed, 15 minutes max.

417: What is your favorite fashion trend right now?
T.G.: Flat front pants. They make us old guys look thinner.
