417 Magazine: Where do you find fashion inspiration?
Lori Guy: I have always been a fashion magazine junkie. I love InStyle. I go to websites like Shopbop, What To Wear, Rue La La and the like. I am also fortunate to attend fashion markets in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas and New York as a buyer for Girl Boutique, a small boutique in Columbia.
417: Who is your fashion role model?
L.G.: My mom. She always looked her best, whether we were going to the grocery store or out for lunch.
417: What’s a fashion trend you wish would go away?
L.G.: Mixing stripes and floral patterns.
417: What’s the best bargain you’ve ever found? How much did it cost?
L.G.: One of the best bargains I remember buying were a pair of Old Gringo boots at the Dallas Market Center on the sample floor for $75.
417: What’s your favorite outfit/article of clothing you’ve worn?
L.G.: The dress I wore for my son’s wedding.
417: What are your favorite places to shop for clothes in 417-land?
L.G.: Ashby’s Boutique•Denim Lab and Harem & Company.
417: What is your favorite fashion trend right now?
L.G.: Hats. I love them. They hide a bad hair day.
417: What do you think is the worst fashion faux pas?
L.G.: Tights with open toe shoes.
417: What three words define your style?
L.G.: Fun, fashionable and confident.
417: What are your favorite places to shop for clothes not in 417-land?
L.G.: Girl Boutique in Columbia and Calypso in Phoenix.
417: What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever worn?
L.G.: My flannel pajamas while driving my kids to school and running out of gas.
417: What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a must-have?
L.G.: Oh, geez. I have bought many must-haves. How much I spent? Always on sale (my husband may be reading this).
417: Do you ever shop at thrift stores? If so, what do you look for?
L.G.: My favorite thrift store is in Phoenix. I look for amazing one-of-a-kind items.
417: How long does it take you to get ready to go out/go to work?
L.G.: It depends; yoga 10 minutes, an evening out, one hour.
417: If you could only wear one brand/designer for the rest of your life what would it be and why?
L.G.: Lululemon Athletica. It’s very comfortable.
