Kaye's Fashion Forward

Kaye Lee, our go-to fashionista, shares a few key pieces and tips to help you look slim and sexy.

Welcome to March, the month when you realize that your New Year’s resolution to lose weight isn’t happening quite like you planned. But don’t let it get you down. With these few simple tricks and a few key pieces in your wardrobe, you can look slimmer and feel younger.

Happy Shopping!

1. Belt
Leave the skinny belts behind! Choose a wide belt with some extra stretch to cinch your waist and give you just the right figure-flattering curves.

2. Blazer
A must-have for any closet is a black blazer. A tailored blazer will give you a slim look, and it’s a great layering piece to add to any outfit.

3. Stripes
Yes, vertical stripes are known to be more slimming, but don’t let that keep you from choosing a horizontal-striped top for layering. Just be sure to choose horizontal stripes with a narrow width.

4. Handbags
Most women carry a purse or clutch 90 percent of the day, so be sure and select one that is proportionate to your figure. A medium-sized bag is a safe bet for almost all sizes.

5. Pencil Skirt
Pencil skirts are fashionable all year round and flattering on any figure. They tighten the belly and give you curves in all of the right places.

6. Jeans
Jeans are like bathing suits… We dread the thought of them! But the right jeans can make you feel and look amazing. Start by shopping for a mid-waist, straight-leg jeans with stretch. And don’t be afraid to ask for professional help.

7. Peplum Top
Peplum tops are all the rage right now, and luckily the right top can make you look slimmer. Choose a thinner fabric and pair it with a pencil skirt or slimming pants.

8. Jewelry
At any age or size, accessories are the key to every outfit.  Whenever it comes to shopping for necklaces, look for one that drops down below the chest to give you a taller, slimmer appearance.

9. Heels
When you’re looking for a new pair of shoes, choose nude. Nude heels elongate your legs, and make them look taller, longer and leaner.

10. Self Tanner
Yes, a self tanner can help you look slimmer, and it’s much better for your skin than a tanning bed. Look for a professional bronzer that won’t make you look orange. The goal is to look toned and fresh.

11. Shapewear
SPANX is your No.1 key to looking 10 pounds slimmer. And best of all, no one needs to know your secret!
