Hop-heads rejoice! The latest brew to hit the kegs at Mother’s Brewing Company (215 S. Grant Ave., Springfield, 417-862-0423, mothersbrewing.com) is a boozy, hop-tastic beer. Doozy, as it is affectionately called at Mother’s, is part of the Mother’s Others lineup. Each year, Mother’s rolls out six limited-edition beers, and Doozy is the hoppiest one yet. “This beer will shock your system if you like filtered wheat,” says Jeremy Wicks, director of sales and marketing at Mother’s.

As Wicks explains, this double IPA is hopped at every possible stage of the brewing process. Even the water it is brewed with is hopped. The result is a medium-body beer that boasts one seriously fruity pallet. If you like the sound of that, you’ll love the fact that this beer ranks in at 9 percent alcohol by volume with 80 IBUs (international bitterness units).

Stay tuned to Mother’s Facebook page for news on the big unveiling party in early May, and get ready to welcome in the summer season with one doozy of a beverage.—Ettie Berneking
