On the Horizon

The medical world is ever-changing, and the hospitals of 417-land are evolving right along with it. Check out this list of what’s happening with our local hospitals.

A new nine-story patient tower on the main campus of CoxHealth.
Measuring in at 310,000 square feet, this space is intended to help meet the needs of CoxHealth’s growing patient population and allow the hospital to offer more private rooms. The tower is housing a Women and Children’s Hospital and Neuroscience Hospital, with floors ready for a future expansion.

A new emergency department and expanded critical care unit at Cox Medical Center Branson.
There are 32 private exam and treatment rooms as well as eight observation beds planned for the new emergency department. Providers can care for 55,00060,000 patients each year in the space, and improved flow should allow for quicker patient access to services.

A new Ozarks Community Hospital health system clinic in north Springfield. 
This OCH Evergreen Clinic (located at 1540 E. Evergreen, Springfield) encompasses a 24,800-square-foot space where patients can access pediatric, orthopedic, occupational medicine, pulmonology, nephrology and adult and pediatric therapy. 

A new Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital in Springfield.
Mercy Springfield’s ability to help patients who need longer-term rehabilitation, including children as young as 13, nearly doubles with the new space.

A new partnership between Freeman Health System and Children’s Kansas City.
Freeman Health System has now partnered with Children’s Kansas City to enhance care for children in southwest Missouri. The clinic offers local families with sick children greater access to a nationally recognized pediatric hospital. Children’s Kansas City opened a permanent location on Freeman Health System’s Joplin campus. Also, Freeman opened a location in Carl Junction in February 2014.
