Learn about nutrition tips and helpful food demonstrations at cooking classes held the first Tuesday of each month. Medical Tai Chi
This eight-week class takes traditional Tai Chi movements and Qi Gong breathing exercises and adapts them to address specific issues and accommodate special circumstances or limitations to movement, and can be performed sitting or standing. The CoxHealth Center for Health Improvement holds this unique therapy for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other lung conditions, individuals trying to quit smoking and patients in cardiac rehabilitation. Baby Basics Class
New parents can take this class taught by pediatric nurses to learn infant and toddler basics like swaddling, crib safety, vaccine information, breast feeding, and car seat safety. Typically held on Tuesdays, this small group class covers everything from pregnancy to taking your baby home and can be for all family members involved. Weight Management Program
This long-term program has physician William Lewis McKay, DO help participants follow a low-calorie diet, an exercise regimen, and prescription medication. The program teaches portion control and proper eating habits and includes health care support. The class is free, but pre-registration is required. Smoking Cessation Classes
Citizens Memorial Healthcare knows that a key to quitting smoking is peer support. They offer free support groups and six-week classes with CMH Cardiac Rehab. There is individual, group or telephone counseling available. Call 417-328-6574 for more information.
Varicose Vein Screenings
The CMH Wound and Hyperbaric Center offers free screenings to see if your varicose veins are more than a cosmetic issue to prevent serious complications.
