Pet Tales

MSU Head Football Coach Terry Allen and his kids’ two guinea pigs, Lulu [dark]  and Buddy

About a year and a half ago, Missouri State Head Football Coach Terry Allen was introduced to the new family pet, Buddy, a guinea pig. About six months later came Lulu. “They sure make some strange noises,” Allen says.

The pair mainly belongs to his children, Angie, 12; Chase, 10; and Alex, 7. Although, they have been known to hang out with Allen. “They’ll come and spend some time on your lap,” he says. “I’m the only one that Buddy will stay quiet for. He’ll come rest up on my belly while I’m watching TV.”

Allen suspects his wife, Lynn, likes the guinea pigs better than the pets the family had before moving to Springfield. “As so commonly happens, the mom takes care of the kids’ pets, and the guinea pigs are easier than dogs,” Allen laughs.
