It has been said time and again that there is just “no place like home for the holidays.” Take a break from the door-buster sales this year and visit someone else’s home all decorated for the holidays. Who knows, you might even discover some décor ideas for your own house.
Cup O' Cheer Homes Tour
The Ronald McDonald House’s Cup O’ Cheer Homes Tour is now in its 14th year. The beautiful homes (and one office condo) in the tour are adorned in Christmas décor. You can have “high tea” in Old World Style and participate in a silent auction. Plus, the first 1,200 people to purchase a ticket receive a free commemorative fine china teacup and saucer designed by BridgeBlue Sourcing Partners.
Designed in an “open house” format, the tour allows visitors to come and go from the homes as they please. The tour, however, also has two additional stops. It features a suite at the Bradford Place Office Condominium as well as the Ronald McDonald House, where tea and gourmet desserts are served throughout the day. The Ronald McDonald House is also the location of the silent auction.
All of the profits from ticket sales go directly back to Ronald McDonald House charities and ultimately benefit families whose children are being treated in hospitals throughout the region. The funds are especially crucial this year, because of the charity’s plan to expand with the construction of a new house located on the 6th floor of St. John’s Hospital. The expansion, which costs at least $500,000 from the Ronald McDonald House, should be ready for guests sometime in 2010.
