Homes Tours: Web Exclusive
Don't miss two more excellent homes tours in 417-land: Midtown's Victorian Homes Tour and the Neighbors and Friends of Table Rock Lake Homes Tour.
A Taste of Victorian Charm
Come step back in time with a visit to Springfield’s historic Midtown district this holiday season for the Victorian Christmas Homes Tour. For 18 years, visitors have been heading to the historic district as a part of the annual tour and keep coming back time and again.
This year’s tour includes five of the oldest homes in Springfield, fully adorned just in time for the holidays. In addition to the homes on the tour, Caring Communities and the Urban Neighborhood Alliance are also a part of the festivities. Tourgoers are invited to stop in at a vendor and craft fair sponsored by Sacred Heart Church located in the Cox North Fountain Plaza Room. December 4-5. $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Friday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the following: Enterprise Lanes, Sunshine Lanes, Holiday Lanes, The Medicine Shoppe [Division Location], Urban Neighborhoods Alliance and the Urban Districts Alliance. Shuttles between the homes are available from the Drury University Center, 803 Drury Lane. 417-865-4774.
Going South for the Season
Since its beginning nine years ago, the Neighbors and Friends of Table Rock Lake Homes Tour has developed a reputation for its giving back to the community. With $110,000 on the record for regional charities, it is apparent that the event is a great success, and according to its organizers, keeps getting better with each passing year. This year, five Kimberling City homes are on the tour.
“It’s a way for women to connect and give back,” says event organizer Sharon Clarke. “It’s very rewarding to work on this because we can see it going to work in the community.”
Visitors are encouraged to take a break from the tour to stop in at the silent auction going on at the Kimberling Area Library. All items in the silent auction have been donated by local businesses and artists, and the profits go back into the group’s charitable work; the list of items include things such as original artwork, gift certificates to local restaurants, as well as massage and hair services. Refreshments will also be served throughout the day. December 4 and 5. $15 per ticket. Homes are open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the Kimberling Area Library, Harter House, Metropolitan Bank and People’s Bank in Kimberling City and Country Mart and the Stone County National Bank in Branson West. 417-365-0170.
