Table Talk: October 1
Time for another Staff Raves column, brought to you by people who… well, really love food. In this monthly The Scoop feature, our staff highlights 417-land’s best dishes, and elaborates just enough to make you want to try these dishes, too.
Bret’s eating: “The mini corndog appetizer at Big Whiskey’s. “They might sound like something you would find on the kids menu, but don’t be fooled. These are tiny weenies fried in a golden-brown batter served with BW's southwest ranch dip. The perfect snack to munch on with a few adult beverages.”
Debbie’s eating: The turkey-stuffing-cranberry sandwich at Which Wich?. “It tastes like Thanksgiving leftovers."
Dori is eating: Pulled pork nachos at Whole Hog Café. “It’s a heaping amount of meat and cheese. And an excellent way to try each different sauce on each bite.”
Matt is eating: Sliders from Whisler’s (pictured). “Not the pretties thing to look at, but I can’t get enough.”
Crissy is eating: Chilean sea bass at Bijan’s. “Cedar-enhanced covered with cashews, pecans and carmelized onion, served with wild mushroom risotto. This is the best meal I’ve ever eaten. I crave it all of the time!"
Katie Pollock is eating: Tofu at Tong’s Thai Restaurant. “I love that at Tong's, they ASK which I want. So I can order the tofu fresh, and feel a little better about my meal. I got yellow curry with fresh tofu, and it was so good. Packed with veggies, plus a little pineapple.”
Leslie is eating: Pad Thai at Thai Peppers. “It was amazing. They give you a huge serving of noodles and it comes with grilled chicken and shrimp.”
Table Talk Feedback
We learned a little more about the pizza joint going into the old Kaldi’s spot on East Battlefield. It’s called Minsky’s, and it’s Kansas City-based, not from St. Louis.
