The Scoop: November 5
We have some interesting food-and-drink-scene turnover to talk about involving a relatively new coffee joint. Here’s the scuttlebutt:
First, it’s a case of an old face in a new place. Kevin Cassil, formerly owner of Cassil’s Coffee Café, which closed its two locations just about a year ago, has taken over management of Sinatra’s Coffeehouse, soon to be renamed Heroes Coffee House, according to Cassil. The coffee/smoothie/dessert spot at the intersection of Chestnut and National has also changed ownership hands: the new team includes Tim Ferguson, the owner of Oaxacafe Coffee Company, a local wholesale firm looking to get into the retail game, and Craig Wagoner, who owns the building and adjacent lofts where the coffee shop is located. Cassil says the new name will seek to reflect local “Heroes.” Look for the change sooner rather than later.
Also on our radar: a discovery. 417 Pizza. It’s now open at 4560 S. Campbell Ave. We like local pizza joints enough to forgive them for stealing our next magazine idea. Have you tried 417 Pizza? We're quite curious, as you can imagine. If you've had it, tell us about it at matt@417mag.com.
