Behind the Design
As 417 Magazine’s Creative Director, I pull inspiration from all over. Design is a passion of mine, and when I’m out scouting products to feature in the magazine, I run across items I just have to share with our readers. With the holidays fast approaching I’ve been thinking of ways to make my living area a place where guests can feel at home, so I’ve gathered some must-have pieces for your coffee tables this season.
1. Simple Style: What makes a good coffee table book? Well, it depends on the person you ask, but for me it has to be chock-full of beautiful photography, and the bigger the book, the better. This book, Simplicity, by Nancy Braithwaite ($50 at Provence Gifts & Antiques), has all the it factors and would look stunning on anyone’s coffee table.
2. Boxed In: Other perfect additions to a coffee table are beautiful boxes like these ($64 small box, $76 large box at The Market). They can hide your remote controls or whatever else you need to tuck away, and their simple shape makes them seem less busy.
3. Buy One, Plant One: This Precious Thymes Fraser Fir candle would not only be great for your home but would make a thoughtful gift as well ($45 at Gamble’s Gifts). With every purchase, the company plants a fir tree.
