Get Rid of Anything
Take charge of the clutter battle without bulldozing the garage. We’ve got a few tips for getting rid of your junk while earning a few bucks.

We all have a little excess baggage. Whether it’s a trunk full of never-been-used camping equipment, clothes that rarely leave the hangers or the retro home décor from your dorm-room days. And it just keeps accumulating. But luckily, we’ve gathered the best ideas for clearing the clutter, whether you want to donate to a good cause, make a little money, save the planet or even put new life into items relegated to the junk drawer. Plus, learn how to dispose of medications, space heaters and other potentially dangerous refuse, and find local resources to share toys and books with neighbors instead of buying them new. But readers beware: Debris disposal doesn’t just happen overnight. So read up, and get busy—before you change your mind about that decade-old Beanie Baby collection.

Reader Comments:
Melody,
I am teaching a "Dejunk, Declutter, Destress!" class at OTC this winter. I would LOVE to use your "Trash Talk Resource Guide" as a handout for my students (involves printing the guide for each student). Do I have your permission to do so? May I refer to your article "Trash Talk" during the class (giving credit to you of course)? Last question, will the article be available after the 1st of the year in your magazines archive so I could give my students the link?
Thanks!
Deb Maxwell
