The ShopStaxx app launched on Apple’s App store and the Google Play Store on June 4, and within weeks had 600 downloads, said Laney Gipson, STAXX media design and public relations director.
“We wanted to meet our customers where they are at, and that is on their phones,” Gipson says. “Now on your phone, you can have new shoes at your door, provided with free shipping, with a few clicks of a button via our new app.”
On June 29, Modern Society Apparel introduced its Insta Shop, which allows customers to place orders directly from Instagram.
“The easier you make shopping for the customer, the better,” says Andrea Pena, owner of MODERN Society Apparel. “With Instagram being so popular, people can shop a post. It might be more enticing to shop the Instagram photo than a regular photo.”
Adding to the ease, MODERN Society Apparel offers free shipping on orders more than $50, and STAXX offers free shipping on all items and introduced a loyalty program through its app. After each purchase, the customer receives a stamp, and the fifth stamp unlocks discounts and rewards.
According to Gipson, research shows shoppers are more likely to use loyalty programs if they can access them via a mobile device. Pena says the bulk of her Insta Shop sales are outside of 417-land.
Both retailers echo the apps will help them compete in a global marketplace. “Small business is having to step up and compete with larger online retailers, such as Amazon, and our next big move was launching our app alongside our mobile loyalty rewards program,” Gipson says.
So, next time you’re wanting to spruce up your look with the latest styles, instead of hitting the pavement, grab your phone and get shopping.
