What are your goals?
My goals are to get my son raised and for him to go to medical school at UMKC. I want to continue my real estate business and succeed as much as I can. Be a good wife and mom. I focus on real estate.
How do you deal with pressure?
I don’t have time to think about it. I’m going all the time. I take each situation on its own and work through each part of it. I have several appointments all day long, hour by hour. I’ve always had a pretty stressful job.
What motivates you?
I’ve always been pretty motivated. I want to be the best at whatever I do. I’m very competitive and that motivates me a lot. I want my coworkers and my family to be proud of me. I want to be successful at whatever I do.
If you could start a new career, what would you do?
I would love to be in the medical field somehow, probably a nurse. If I thought I could I would go back to be a nurse. I love to help people.
Who are your real life heroes?
My mother is a strong woman. When times were tough she just got tougher. Also, my sister because she has a large family and her and her husband both have full time jobs. I admire her a lot. Carol Jones I strongly admire too. She has made herself on her own. She’s a very determined, wonderful person. She would do anything for anybody. To know where she came from is pretty amazing.
What’s your biggest fear?
I don’t know if I have a biggest fear. I put a lot of faith in God and I know that whatever comes my way is part of what I have to handle. I don’t want to fail or be a failure. I don’t ever want my son to be hurt. As a mother, I don’t want him to ever have to go through pain.
What’s the best book you’ve read in the past year?
I read the Bible and that’s about it.
What’s your favorite quote?
Treat others as you would like to be treated. I try to use that everyday.
When are you happiest?
When good things happen to my family and the people that I really care about. That’s what makes me really happy.
Do you have a prized possession?
Other than my son and my husband, probably my wedding ring.
What part of the world would you like to visit but haven’t?
Paris. I would love to go there. It’s so romantic and it seems like a beautiful and inviting, happy place to be.
If you could share a taxi from the airport with any celebrity, who would you choose?
Matthew McCoughnahey, he’s not too bad is he? I’d love to ride with Eva Longoria. I think she is the cutest thing, and she seems so happy. I think she’s a beautiful person.
When you look in a mirror, what do you see?
I see myself aging a little bit. I see myself as being very happy and very fortunate. I am so fortunate and blessed. I see myself stressed a lot. When I look in a mirror, I just see that I’m a very blessed person.
If you could eliminate a trait of your own, what would it be?
I would probably be a little bit more tolerant.
If you could go back to a certain age again, what would it be?
Probably 17. I was a senior and high school, and I was having a very fun time. I didn’t have a lot of worries. I really enjoyed my high school years a lot.
Give me three words that describe yourself.
Motivated, caring, loving. I think I’m a loving person.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My son and the fact that I’ve been really fortunate with real estate. I’ve been in the top 5 for the past three years.
What talent would you most like to have?
I’d love to sing. That’s an easy one.
What do you know for sure?
I know for sure that I’ll go to heaven and that my husband loves me unconditionally. I know that for a fact.
When was the last time you did something reckless?
Like everyday. When I drive and text on my phone.
What is your philosophy in life?
To live everyday as if it was our last day here. Love the people that are important to us. Life is too short to hold grudges. I believe that there is good in everybody. I love life. I’m very fortunate.
If you had $1 million, how would you spend it?
Give some to my mom and my brothers and sisters, and what little was left we’d put in the bank. A million dollars doesn’t go that far anymore.
What sort of work do you try to avoid or put off?
I hate to mop my floors. Otherwise I’ll do anything. I have a woman clean my house just so that I don’t have to mop the floors.
What do you worry about most?
Health for my family. Without health we don’t have anything.
Can you describe a situation in which you feel you behaved courageously?
My mother had cancer this past year and we never had to deal with anything like that. We took it one day at a time and kept going and stayed with her. We never had any mental breakdowns she made it through.
What mistakes in your life have you learned from?
Never be judgmental. I really try to live by that.
What was your first job?
I cleaned houses all through high school. I worked at the library my senior year of high school and got paid.
