Martin-Harrington Home Gallery: September 2008
A mother-and-daughter duo have created eerily similar homes in their Nixa neighborhood.
A French country home isn’t too hard to come by in 417-land. Actually—it seems this style is being built all over our region, all the time. But two French country homes that are just a little more than one block apart with nearly all the same furniture and décor—now that isn’t something we see every day. But we saw it in Nixa. Coincidence? Not quite—it’s more like inheritance in this situation. Debbie and Gary Martin and Leslie and Ryan Harrington are the owners of two Nixa homes that look very much alike. This is the result of similar tastes that Leslie inherited from her mother, Debbie.
These two homes, located in the Villas at Wicklow, were built a little less than six months apart by homebuilder Tony Brewer of Cornerstone Cottages. “They are two of the nicest homes in the neighborhood and very nicely decorated,” says Brewer. And he wasn’t kidding. Each of the homes gives much attention to detail in each and every room. And more often than not, it’s the same details in the same rooms. But this wasn’t planned. “It’s not like we wanted to build and decorate our homes to look the same,” says Harrington, “We just have really similar tastes.”
