Quick Dish: Nearly Famous Deli and Pasta House
I’m clearly a lunch novice when it comes to Nearly Famous Deli & Pasta House in the Brentwood Center. Those “in the know” get there promptly at 11:30 to be guaranteed a table. Novices like me show up at 11:45, which seems early. But by Nearly Famous standards, you’re late and better be prepared to wait for a table. This was the main topic of conversation among those of us waiting—strategizing the best arrival time. Our table this time was one of the cute little two-person booths next to the bar. So cozy. I ordered the $7.99 Sandwich Special. It was called Grand Street but could have easily been called the all-my-favorite-things-between-two-pieces-of-bread-sandwich. Smoked turkey, sautéed mushrooms, artichoke hearts, swiss cheese and honey mustard on grilled sourdough, served with potato salad (although I substituted for yummy Lay’s potato chips). My lunch buddy, Tanja Kern, ordered the spinach salad which looked quite tasty. We were in and out in 45 minutes, perfect amount of time for a workday lunch.
