Q+A with Dianne

What’s your favorite feature about yourself?
“It used to be my least favorite, and now it’s my favorite. And that’s being tall. When I was younger, it was my least favorite.”

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Before I got married, my mother said, ‘If you want a happy marriage, start out training your husband right on the honeymoon, when they’re fresh and excited.’”

What is your most prized possession?
“My wedding ring. It belonged to my husband’s mother who was killed in an auto accident when he was in high school.”

What’s your favorite way to spend a Saturday?
“It would be sleeping in, going to the lake, relaxing and watching a good movie, reading a good book, or having time with my grandkids. Just being a slug, doing nothing.”

What are three words that describe you?
“I’m a hard worker, I have common sense, and I like to have fun.”

What charity did you choose to represent and why?
“The Caring People, we are a ministry for single moms. Many of them are in a very hard place with a lot of stress and sometimes not having a lot of family support and very little help or support from the ex-husbands or fathers of their children. When you change the life of a mom, you also change the life of a child. We meet in small groups, and we do what friends do for friends, and lives are changed.”

What do you think makes a woman beautiful?
“Knowing who she is and being happy and content with it.”

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
“The letter my daughter, Brooke, wrote to nominate me for 10 Most Beautiful Women.”

What has been your proudest moment, or what are you most proud of?
“I’m most proud of my family—all of them.”

When you were a little girl, who did you think was the most beautiful woman?
“Jackie Onassis and Audrey Hepburn.”

What’s your favorite source of inspiration?
“The Bible. My favorite verse is from Matthew 19:26. ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”

What’s your biggest goal in life?
“At 60, I’ve reached a number of them. But my overall goal is to be pleasing to God.”

What are your hobbies?
“Spending time with my grandchildren, going to the lake, and reading.”

Who is your celebrity crush?
“When I was younger, it was Elvis Presley.”

What was your worst date ever?
“A guy proposed to me when I was in high school on the first date.”

What’s your favorite way to spend a Saturday?
“It would be sleeping in, going to the lake or relaxing and watching a good movie or reading a good book, or having time with my grandkids. Just being a slug, doing nothing.”

If you could invite anyone to dinner, who would it be and why?
“We had Charlie Duke and his wife, Dottie, over to dinner. He was an astronaut who walked on the moon. It was wonderful.”
