Frank R Newman Jr, DMD

St. John’s Clinic-Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

1965 S. Fremont Ave., Ste. 160 • Springfield • 417.820.9415

When asked about his most memorable patient, Dr. Newman may have to step back and consider this question. In his mind, there are just too many to list. Yet, he is overwhelmingly positive that his favorite groups to treat are kids and special-needs patients. “They often can’t find treatment and are very appreciative,” says Dr. Newman. In fact, he spends time outside of work volunteering for the Special Olympics and at local elementary health fairs. A relative newcomer to 417-land, Dr. Newman has already made a positive impact in the community and enjoys living in Springfield. The Ozarks has become his home.

Though he has only been with St. John’s for three years, oral and maxillofacial surgery has always been a focus. He has a particular interest in providing facial reconstruction to those who have been involved in traumatic situations. Dr. Newman is passionate about helping patients restore function and appearance following an accident or other injury and hopes with his help, he can “recreate the face or smile they once had.” Technology in this area continues to improve and there are new types of bone grafting used for facial reconstruction and placement of dental implants.

What sets his practice apart from others is the technology of treating patients with temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) with a surgical scope. This device helps him view the joint without invasive surgery which is a positive step for TMJ sufferers. He is also able to provide non-surgical treatment for TMJ syndrome and with the introduction of new anesthesia techniques in a clinical setting, many necessary procedures can be done right in his office.

In addition, Dr. Newman sees patients for a variety of other oral care problems including impacted wisdom teeth extraction, sleep apnea, orthognathic surgery, oral pathology and more.
