Ugly Dog Ballot

You nominated these 14 ugly, yet adorable ugly dogs. You love them, we love them, and now you can vote on your three favorite ugly dogs. Each week, pooches are eliminated until the Top 3 are chosen. The dogs' photos will appear black and white after they have been eliminated. The top three vote-getters will be treated to pampering, have their own photo shoot and appear in the pages of 417 Magazine. Voting continues until July 17.

And, I'll admit, we talked about the need for braces to help that serious overbite. Then we decided she has an original look - that she is unique with a great personality (like Aunt Gertie) and swore never to use the U-word when describing her. It must be working. She LOVES to have her photo taken, has a diverse wardrobe, and is the hit of the neighborhood dog walk. What she lacks in looks, she's made up for in self-esteem. God created her with no hair except on her head, feet, and tail. She is the most loving dog I have ever met. We are her slaves and cater to her every need in life. I was working there at the time. Elvis had been picked up by animal control for running loose. He was covered in fleas and ticks and he was horribly skinny. He had fleas so bad that all of his hair had fallen out and his skin was covered in scabs. He was in a big kennel screaming at the top of his lungs. I gave him flea treatment and got him a big, fuzzy blanket. I continued to visit him everyday and secretly prayed that his owner did not come back for him because of how badly he had been neglected. After his holding period was over, I adopted him immediately. Everyone thought I was nuts because he was such a wreck. My veterinarian checked him for every skin condition under the sun and determined that he didn't have anything serious, but his hair would probably never grow back. Five years later he has hair on his chest, ears, butt and tail, but the rest of his body is pretty much bald with tufts of hair here and there. He wears sunscreen during the summer and has an extensive wardrobe to keep him warm during the winter. Even though he had a rough start in life, he is as happy as can be and makes friends wherever he goes. He has been known to sneak out of the back yard and follow neighbors on their afternoon walks. People always ask if he is some exotic breed or if there is something wrong with him. Some people think he is adorable, but most describe him as “peculiar." Either way, he's a great dog with a great personality and in my opinion, a great hairdo!"
