Black Sheep's Magic Burger Bus
The Jalili family's burger brainchild Black Sheep Burgers & Shakes is showing no signs of slowing down. A food truck just appeared on the scene and a drive-thru location on the east side of Springfield is anticipated to open this fall.

To put it simply, Black Sheep Burgers & Shakes is slaying the fancy burger game. It all started as a downtown Springfield restaurant with bright green chairs, funky fries, boozy shakes and big ol' burgers with unexpected toppings like peppadew pineapple jam mayonnaise. The Jalili family has now expanded it to include a Chesterfield Village location and has a Sunshine Street location with a drive-thru set to open this fall. Then, on August 26, 2017, the burger brigade magically popped out a food truck.
"We've had the truck for probably four months," says Black Sheep's events coordinator Kristin Lake. "We sent it out for the first time last Saturday to King's Way [United Methodist Church], then we were at Cattle Baron's Ball." Lake says the food truck helps with portability and looks nicer at events.
The magic burger bus (as we like to call it) is really a food truck that is currently only available for catering. "People want them late night for weddings and other things,” Lake says. The truck's limited menu offers five burgers including the Ugly Cheeseburger, Foodie, Jamaican Me Crazy, Bleus Brothers (pictured right) and Veggin' Out. Sadly, fries aren't currently available.
As for the Sunshine Street location, Lake is hopeful it will be open by the end of September to give burger lovers a quicker grab-and-go option versus riding out the two-hour wait that's typical at the downtown location on weekends. “Hopefully it’ll be a good base to expand on more than the dine-in restaurants," she says.
