Dan and Nicole Chilton own Moxie Cinema in downtown Springfield.

Dan Chilton owns downtown Springfield's independent cinema, the Moxie, with his wife Nicole. He's been kind enough to agree to send us regular update on what's playing at the Moxie, so 417-landers who may not frequent downtown can stay in the know. You can find out more about the Moxie at moxiecinema.com.

We've got a lot of great films to look forward to in February, including a couple more weeks of Slumdog Millionaire! If you're one of the last few people in the Springfield metro area who has yet to see this tremendous film, make it a point to swing by our lovely new theater and check it out over the upcoming weeks. If you're in the mood for something new, however, we've got you covered. Here's a quick look at what's to come:

I've Loved You So Long—Although the title of this French film sounds like a follow-up to the life of the Vietnamese street hooker from Full Metal Jacket, don't be fooled; it's actual a powerful drama starring Kristen Scott Thomas (The English Patient), one of the most underrated actresses in modern cinema. The film tells the story of a woman who spends 15 years in prison, and, upon her release, moves back in with her sister as she reacclimates to the modern world and quietly deals with her disturbing past. A very powerful movie, to be sure. Don't miss it!

2009 Oscar-Nominated Short Films—We're very proud, for the fourth year in a row, to be bringing in all ten of this year's Oscar-nominated short films. They're broken into two categories, animated and live-action, and they're always a blast to watch. The shorts come from all corners of the globe and range from short comedy farces to gut-wrenching dramas and everything in between. It's a difficult task to squeeze a compelling narrative into such a short amount of time, but these are the very best of the best. You can't go wrong with five (short) movies for the price of one! And as an added bonus, if you compete in an Oscar betting pool each year, seeing these films might give you the edge you need to win it all!

We'll also be bringing several more movies later in the month and leading into March, such as: Waltz With Bashir, Wendy and Lucy, and more! Keep your eye on our website, moxiecinema.com , for updated showtimes and more information about all our Moxie movies.
