Branson prostitutes? Allegedly

Branson prostitutes? Allegedly

Undoubtedly the weirdest story of this week comes out of Branson, where three women were busted and charged with prostitution in a police sting.

We're not really sure where to start; sure, Branson is full of traveling entertainment industry types, many of them used to the spoils of Las Vegas, Nashville, and So Cal, so the presence of the world's oldest profession doesn't seem completely out of line. On the other hand, these were local gals (one from Springfield, one from Strafford, one from Branson)—seemingly nothing high-end. To wit: They were first brought to authorities' attention because of online items posted on Craigslist and Backpage.com.

Still, the fact that officers were on a sting either means these women had been at it for a while, or there's a little more of a "presence" than most of us would realize. In the News-Leader's article a Branson detective calls the problem "persistent".

To us, this does little to tarnish Branson's family-friendly vibe, or even threaten it. Families don't hang in the late-night lounges or hotel bars, and it's not like these ladies were caught outside The Butterfly Palace or something. Things happen. The Branson police are obviously on the case, and three stings over the last 16 months doesn't exactly seem like an epidemic.

Oh, and the funniest thing we've heard said in relation to this story: "Honestly, I was surprised [the suspected prostitutes] weren't uglier." Decide for yourself.

Just how much uglier did you think they would appear?

From the looks of them I bet they are not good earners.

Yes once again Missouri is listed as the number one meth producing State, Champion for 9 years, and we do a sting operation for 3 lonely prostitues. I feel so safe now.
