We stand by our Best of the Day item, the ultra-cool blood drive at the Community Blood Center where you can get great Cardinals stuff, but we admit it may not be the most "fun" thing in the world. With that in mind, here are two great local happenings tonight in Springfield:
• Gigs at the Gillioz, the weekly concert at the historic Gillioz Theatre, features Moonlight Revue, where they'll play best-loved pop songs from the '40s, '50s, '60s and some from the '70s. Here's there web page. It's definitely a time to celebrate the romantic and light-hearted side of music, not to mention a steal at $7. Tickets are only available at the door, beginning at 6 p.m. The show begins at 7 p.m.
• If you're staying home tonight, switch on KY3 and watch America's Got Talent. Once again, a group from 417-land is trying to get famous (it worked marginally well for Branson's The Duttons last season). The ICON Cadence Drum Show, the house percussion group that performs at downtown's ICON nightclub, made it through to Las Vegas auditions, and their first televised performance is tonight. ICON owner Paul Sundy is tight-lipped about just how far the group has made it... find out if they avoid the Hof's Big Red X and take that second step tonight. America's Got Talent airs at 8 p.m. on NBC (KY3, Mediacom channel 12).
