Five for the Weekend

First Friday Art Walk
Time to take a stroll in downtown Springfield this Friday night. The streets will be chock-full of fine folks enjoying original art, music, demonstrations and performances in 25 gallery venues. It’s going to be warm, so feel free to stop into some of Springfield’s locally owned bars and restaurants to cool off, whet your whistle and fill your belly.
First Firkin Friday
Hang out with your Mother’s Brewing Company crew at the brewery this Friday to get a taste of its Sandy, dry-hopped with citra and fresh grapefruit. Mother’s will also have Wonder Wieners in attendance stuffing buns with its delicious sausages. The firkin gets tapped at 6 p.m. sharp, so don’t be late.
Movie Night at Founders Park
It’s date night at Founders Park where you can see a showing of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Grab your sweetie and a couple of lawn chairs, and enjoy a movie under the stars. Movies begin at dusk, and concessions are available.
Kids Cooking Class
If you’re looking for something fun to do with your little ones, then sign them up for a tour of Italy. Chef HJ Schumer with the Price Cutter Culinary Classroom is here to teach the kids how to make an Italian entrée, a kid-friendly side dish and a healthy salad. Buon appetito!
Avanzare 10-Year Anniversary
Move your Sunday dinner to Avanzare Italian Dining, and help it celebrate 10 years of business in 417-land. Enjoy a three-course meal that includes an appetizer, entrée and dessert for only $20.12.
