Marci Bowling leaving DCO
By Matt Lemmon
Marci Bowling is leaving the Developmental Center of the Ozarks to take the position of Sales & Marketing Specialist for BKD, LLP.Marci, who has been with DCO for almost 11 years and is nearly synonymous with the organization, at least in professional circles, will assume her new position on July 21, though she will continue to work as a consultant with DCO and her as-yet-unhired replacement to ensure a smooth transition. "DCO is a special place, filled with special people, doing special work on behalf of many special families," Marci told us via e-mail. "I am a better person for having had this experience."
According to Marci, right before she began working with DCO, in 1997, the organization raised $383,667 through United Way, state and local grands, SB40 Board grants, events and appeals. In 2007, DCO raised $1,076,540. Her grand total for her tenure: approximately $4.5 million.
We'll miss Marci's charm and professionalism on the philanthropic circuit, but suspect she'll be making BKD an even bigger player on the local scene in the very near future.

Best wishes to Marci! The Springfield nonprofit community won't be the same without her ever-present perkiness and relentless effort. I'm proud to call her a friend and am sure she'll shine at BKD.
