(May 7, 2008 – Springfield, MO) The Council of Churches of the Ozarks invites nominations to honor Ozarks area volunteers for the Annual Gift of Time Awards. Nominations will be accepted now through Friday, May 23, 2008 and may be submitted by mail, email, fax or online. Nominations for volunteers of all ages are encouraged.
Every day throughout the Ozarks, hundreds of volunteers are giving the “gift of time” to non-profit, public and human-service organizations. Since 1991, the Gift of Time Awards have recognized those volunteers who contribute thousands of hours – along with their vital spirit and enthusiasm – to make life better for our friends and neighbors here in the Ozarks.
An impartial team of business and civic leaders will review each nominee to select 10 local people as the Volunteers of the Year. The recipients will remain a secret until the annual Gift of Time Awards Luncheon, June 26 at Bass Pro Shops’ White River Room.
The sponsors of the 2008 Gift of Time Awards include the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, 417 Magazine, Southwest Missouri Association of Volunteer Administrators (SMAVA), B & E Printing, Elite Promotions, Dan Emrie Photography, the City of Springfield, and the Council of Churches of the Ozarks.
