Hot Husband Finalist: Keith James
Every weekday through Friday, May 30 we'll be unveiling our Hot Husbands finalists (in no particular order) one-by-one here at the 417 Blog. The purpose? To let you gradually get acquainted with the men you'll be voting on beginning June 1 in our first-ever Hot Husbands contest. You'll vote the 20 finalists down to our 10 Hot Husband winners, to be presented in the September issue of 417 Magazine. So of course we want you to have the information you need to make the best choices—though you can't go wrong with any of these guys.
Keith James, 44
Town: Springfield
Occupation: Business Owner
Family: Keith and his wife, Ursula, have three kids: 10-year-old Riley, 9-year-old Carter and 7-year-old Peyton.
Why he’ great: Keith volunteers for the American Cancer Society and is mainly involved with the Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society’s largest fundraiser nationwide. For Relay for Life 2008, his team raised close to $30,000. “I am a cancer survivor, and after doing a lot of research on the subject, there isn’t a more important charity than the American Cancer Society for me to help out,” he says. “Everyone is affected in some way by cancer, and the national statistics are staggering.” He also volunteers for his children’s school, DCO, Big Brothers Big Sisters, American Diabetes Association, The Kitchen and Springfield Catholic Schools Charities.
Hobbies: Keith’s hobbies include his children (“No need to explain why I love THEM!”), hunting, fly fishing, yard word and traveling with his wife. He says they still have a ball together, even after 14 years of marriage.
Why he’s a Hot Husband: “I feel like I put my children and wife first above all else. I have my priorities in life in order: My family, my religion, my friends, my community and my country.”
